SCREEN DESIGN > TYPOGRAPHY ANALYSIS

Example 1 - CSS Zen Garden

One of my favorite sites are http://csszengarden.com/. What is effective about the use of type is the use of serif fonts, with the application of white space and proximity. The consistency of left alignment and use of style type (bold, italics or caps), along with color application help differentiate the sections. This is a great visual help for the reader. The effective use of CSS is definitely a great use to a designer when applied apprpriately

Other thoughts -

  • The Final Ending - (poor use of typography application) Text can be larger; need for color contrast.
  • Defiance - Use of colors and multiple justification styles makes text difficult to read, spells confusion - perhaps this is the intent of the designer to portray the mood of defiance.
