Appendicular Skeleton System Overview

Objectives
  1. Identify the bones forming the appendicular skeleton.
Identify the bones and bone landmarks/structures of the pectoral girdle and upper limbs.

  2. Identify the bones and bone landmarks/structures of the pelvic girdle and lower limbs.

The appendicular skeleton consists of the bones of the pectoral girdle and upper limb, as well as the pelvic girdle and lower limb.

By reviewing the bones of the appendicular skeleton and their specific landmarks and bony projections you will get a better understanding of the movements that will occur when muscles attached to these structures contract.
